The Serena Blog
This Blog is devoted to discussing the teachings of ancient and contemporary wisdom teachers in light of the most recent discoveries in neuroscience and psychology. Caveat emptor: I am not a credentialed expert in any of these fields. But from what I understand, I see that science is showing that meditation and mindfulness really work. For example, we now know that meditation not only lowers stress and improves mental sharpness but it also strengthens our immune system, gives us more youthful and healthy brain tissue, and can be as good or better than prescription drugs for treating mental challenges like depression, addiction, and autism.
So maybe there is something to what all those ancient masters were talking about. Turns out when you strip away the religious and institutional covers, they figured out how to feel happy, healthy and fulfilled and told us how to do it. This blog breaks it down in contemporary language so that we can all benefit from the profound insights into the human condition provided to us by the likes of Buddha, Jesus, Lao Tzu and so many others.
So this blog is a place where you will find my reflections on some of their more challenging or interesting teachings, short write ups of of things I've learned recently that relate to their teachings, and commentary on topics that connect to the sorts of things these wise masters taught us (such as free will, destiny, the nature of reality, what happens when we die, why we are here, and so on).
Alongside my commentary, you'll find photos, quotes, short videos, recent research and links related to guided meditations, other blogs and podcasts as well as discussion on topics ranging across Nueropsychology, diet/health, Astrology, Cosmology & Quantum Physics, Levels of Consciousnes & the Chakras, Mindfulness, and updates on the activities of Serena.
